2019 GFRIEND ASIA TOUR [GO GO GFRIEND!] in KUALA LUMPUR PRESS CONFERENCE
GFRIEND is here in Malaysia as part of their ASIA TOUR 2019!
GFRIEND is a six-member South Korean group consisting of Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji. The group was formed in 2015 by entertainment company Source Music, and has since released two studio albums, one compilation album, seven EPs, and one repackaged album in Korea that have been very well-received by their fans whom they adoringly refer to as ‘BUDDY’.
GFRIEND’s ‘Me Gustas Tu’ from their second EP ‘Flower Bud’ achieved 100 million streams
on the Gaon chart in 2016 and they were the first girl group to do so. Another one of their
hit songs, ‘Rough’ reached No.1 on the digital music platform charts for the 1st half of 2016.
GFRIEND won twenty-nine times on South Korean music shows in 2016, thus becoming the
girl group with the most wins gained within a year and astounding K-Pop music fans
everywhere. The group has received a total of eighty awards thus far- fifty-three from music
programs and twenty-seven from award shows. For such a relatively new group, their rise to
fame is explosive within such a short time frame.
Now, GFRIEND is in Malaysia for the first time ever and MacpiePro will be hosting the first
stop of their tour in Kuala Lumpur. Macpie Berhad, of which MacpiePro is a subsidiary to,
was also present at the press conference to welcome their very special guests. The company
was excited to usher in GFRIEND at their first press conference on Malaysian soil.
GFRIEND will be performing at Malawati Indoor Stadium, Shah Alam on 29th June 2019 and
the concert will start at 6PM sharp.
Executive Director of Macpie Berhad, Mr. Sean Ng also shared MacpiePro’s ambitious Crazy
20 plan and was proud to have GFRIEND as part of their concert line-up.
“Driven by the group’s ambitions and determination, we aim to organise a total of 20 concerts in 2019 with the investment amounting to RM20million. We will not only be bringing in international and local acts, but also more exciting live events like family shows and fans meetings”,
said Ng, whose company expects to generate an estimated revenue of RM28 million by the end of the year.
